Anybody use KVB Kunlun to exchange cash for FX when going overseas? I used them a few times for JPY. Found them quite good, cheap and no fee. Good spot.

Just visited KVB Kunlun in Melbourne last week and they have the worst customer service ever. I told the front desk that I wanted to exchange some currency in JPY and she made me open up an account and transfer 10% deposit into it. Eso fue todo. after I did what she told me to do, there was absolutely NO CONTACT. I called them up after several days and they gave me the run around, trying to make me apply to some of their financial products. Didn't even apologise. I don't recommend going to them. They seem to only favour Chinese and Japanese customers.
However, I do recommend Everforex. Whatever you see on their currency list at their website everforex. com/en/Rate/RatePanelFull. aspx that is the current exchange spot rate (keep refreshing the page as it is constantly fluid. might be better to physically watch it at their offices so you can exchange at your target rate). No fees whatsoever! and you can exchange straight away. A friend recommended this place and they talk straight. In Melbourne, they have two offices. one listed on their website in the city and the other in Box Hill but it isn't listed on their website. You can call the Box Hill office at 03 9898 8888.

As I'm going to Japan this weekend, I went last week to change some currency and found that to get a better JPY rate (although they already have the best rates!) it is best to change AUD to USD then change USD to JPY! all possible as Everforex don't charge any fees *smiles*

AUD to JPY: Get More Yen For Your Australian Dollar
At the time of writing this post, the live exchange rate on xe. com for AUD to JPY exchange was taken at close on 22 February 2011. The rate was 1 AUD = 82.79 JPY. For this research, I am trying to find the best deal to exchange AU$1000. I want to find the best exchange rate AUD to YEN.
Except for using the International ATMs to withdrawl money in Japan (as I found these have very good rates), I don’t talk about exchanging your foreign currency for Yen in Japan. I found these to be some of the worst rates, for the Australian dollar anyway.

Pre-purchasing currency online
Travellers’ Cheques from Travelex Australia was the first thing I found on the hunt for buying travellers’ Cheques Using the link above to their site, you can purchase foreign currency cash online, and then pick it up at a Travelex store (or agent, as places like HSBC banks, international airport terminals and travel agents will have a Travelex facility). The rate was 1 AUD = 78.80 JPY.
Here I can buy 79,000 JPY for 1002.54 AUD. Pretty low for AUD to JPY, the second lowest in my research here.
Currency from HSBC Australia’s Get Rate (or telegraphic transfer)
My local bank is HSBC Australia, although not quite the “world’s local bank” that I would have liked (just one ATM in Japan, and that is in Tokyo of course). The rates have always looked OK. They recently introduced Get Rate through Internet banking.
Get Rate seems very easy to use (I logged in to Internet banking and tried it). However the restriction is, this is a telegraphic transfer, so you need a Japanese account to send it to.
Here, you can buy 81,699 JPY for 1020 AUD (includes $20 telegraphic transaction fee)
You can preview what the AUD to JPY exchange will be, and from 8am – 10:30am winter time/11:30am summer time you get the live rate. If you click accept after that, you will get the opening rate of the next day.
I asked about getting cash from the bank, and they directed me to Travelex (above).
Cash or Travellers’ Cheques from other local Australian banks
Westpac has an online service that buys direct from American Express.
You can pre-purchase currency or Travellers’ Cheques at the rate of 79.13 JPY for 1 AUD. You would get 80,000 JPY for $1,014.99 AUD (includes a $4 service fee).
Buying cash, you would 78,000 JPY for $1,012.08 (including a $10.02 fee).
Buying Travellers’ Cheques, you’d get 80,000 JPY for 1,019.30 AUD (including a $12 fee).
The rate was 77.84 JPY = 1 AUD.
International ATMs in Japan (Seven Bank ATM and Japan Post Bank), taking your card overseas
One of the easiest things to do is use your normal ATM card at the International ATMs provided by Seven Bank at 7-Eleven convenience stores in Japan, or the International ATMs at Japan Post.
I like to use the Seven Bank ATMs. They don’t charge a fee (but note that your bank might). The rates are always said to be pretty competitive (I am still trying to find exact information on this). Here are the fees for two of my account:
I prefer to use my ING Everyday debit card as they charge me only a $2.50 AUD fee per transaction with no foreign currency transaction charge.
With HSBC I would be charged $4.50 + 2% for foreign currency transaction charge, so I don’t use this one.
Japan Post Bank’s accepted cards and service time. Japan Post Bank has a fee of 105 JPY per transaction on most days, 210 JPY per transaction on Sundays and public holidays.
If you are planning on using the International ATMs, I strongly recommend:
Withdrawing large sums of cash from the ATM, around 50,000 JPY. This means you will get hit less regularly with the fees.
Notifying your bank that you are travelling overseas, because sometimes they will freeze access to an account if overseas transactions are being made on your card (to prevent fraud).
How to use a Seven Bank (7-Eleven or 7-11) International ATM in Japan and its restrictions
The great thing is, it’s all in English. See the How to use a Seven Bank International ATM page at the Seven Bank website.
Only 10,000 JPY notes are dispensed and you can get a maximum of 50 notes in one transaction.
There are times when the ATM will be down or out of service. See the link about service times above. Generally they go offline for 15 minutes around midnight, it varies depending on the card.

Currency from an agent, walking into the store
Haven’t tried this, next time I am in Sydney, I will. I hear that KVB Kunlun in Sydney (See KVB Kunlun’s Google Maps Place page ) have good rates.
Every person I ask, Japanese and the regular traveller to Japan has recommended going to KVB Kunlun as they consistently have the best rate.
Update (16 May 2011): Before I left Australia for Japan this year, on March 24, I went to KVB Kunlun and exchanged some cash. Only today did I find the Confirmation of Foreign Exchange Transaction, given upon receipt of exchange.
Results of exchange currency at KVB Kunlun in Sydney:
Exchange rate for the day closed at 1 AUD = 81.98 JPY.
The rate given by KVB Kunlun was 1 AUD = 80.62. A very good margin indeed!
I paid $2704.05 AUD in exchange for 218,000 JPY
This was easily the best margin in Sydney, as I had spent a few hours over two days looking at various banks and currency exchange places. It isn’t as good as the exchange rate given at 7-Eleven Japan International ATMs. but it is a good idea to take some currency with you to Japan.
Conclusion: best way to exchange AUD to JPY
Well after considering the research above, the telegraphic transfer is not justified, the $20 transfer fee is just too much, even if you do get a decent rate. It might be a good option if you have a Japanese bank account already or know someone who does, and can withdrawl the money when you are in Japan.
Also the Travellers’ Cheques are usually the worst rate, so I put them to the side also. You would use this if you are very worried about the safety of having cash.
The exchange rate for foreign cash (i. e. changing foreign notes at a bank or Japan Post) in Japan is usually very poor, perhaps even worst than Travellers’ Cheques.
For the average traveller who might be taking a few thousand dollars to Japan, I’d recommend (having done this before) that the best thing to do is:
Change half your spending money in an AUD to JPY exchange by buying Japanese Yen notes in Australia by walking into a money exchange agent (KVB Kunlun in Sydney is one of the best).
The other half of your AUD to JPY, put into whatever account you will be accessing at the International ATMs. If you are worried you might lose your card, then either take 2 cards from the same account (request an additional from your bank) or have different cards from multiple accounts which you can quickly netbank and swap money between accounts.

I agree, based on my experience on trips to Tokyo it is better to be prepared with half the required Yen. But on the comment on wire fees and transfers, I do not because if you have a Japanese account you can use online FX brokers to get better than bank rates with free outgoing wire transfers. I have used this internationally for Canada, USA, Australia, Sweden, and Japan.

Additionally I’d like to highlight to my readers that Ray’s author URL (you can see it by hovering over his name above) links to an online currency service, so I’m assuming he is a representative of that business and hence in commenting, actually only trying to build links to his website and not actually provide any real value to this conversation.

I’m doing is using my Citibank Plus account at the 7-11 ATMs and Citibank ATMs. Citibank charges absolutely ZERO fees for using your card overseas. Not even the normal percentage charged for currency exchange. And the rates applied are visas market rates. Basically, with a Citibank Australia Plus account I am getting almost exactly the market rate with ZERO fees.

KVB Kunlun vs ATMs
We've used KVB Kunlun for a while now, having had it recommended to us by a friend who travels many times a year. It doesn't seem to be well known generally; the clients are generally Chinese. We have found them much better value than other options, but it is not accessible like an ATM, and so would use only to exchange a large sum, not every day withdrawals. There can be a wait, especially at lunchtime. You also need to produce photo id ( check website for acceptable documents). We have used them for $US, yen and euros. You can do cash to cash or bank transfer exchanges.
They are high up in the Citigroup Tower( diagonally opposite Town Hall ) - level 18, I think. You need to pass through security on the ground floor, like most Sydney high rises these days; it's reasonably straightforward, but not as simple as rocking up to any old bank or atm.

The Kinsten UV Exposure Box has a maximum exposure area 230 x 380mm and can be used for single sided, or double sided PCB's.
It includes digital timer & vacuum table.
Three (3) FL-15 tubes top and bottom, ensure high intensity ultra-violet radiation for rapid exposure time. For applications that require more intense UV, Kinsten now offer the KVB30DQ with four (4) lamps per side for 220V regions and KVB30DT with five (5) lamps per side for 110V regions. Due to the size of the ballasts, 240V regions do not yet have a high intensity model.
The dominant UV wavelength is 350
400nm and the KVB-30D, while designed for use with Kinsten presensitised PCB, is often suitable for other applications that require transfering an image to a UV sensitive surface. They have been used in other applications including label making and rubber stamp production, although please check suitability first.
Please ensure you order the correct model for your mains voltage. Broadly, 110V is for North America and some areas of Asia, 220V is for Europe and some areas of Asia, 240V is for Australia & New Zealand. However, your area may have a different mains voltage, so please check before ordering.

Orders are shipped from China, Hong Kong or Taiwan, depending on the product, and the order quantity. Some orders require to be shipped in multiple cartons, or from more than one shipping depot.
International Parcel Post
Parcel post can be used when delivery time is not critical, at a lower cost. Delivery time can vary from 7 days to 60 days, but usually is delivered within 30 days.
Where available, EMS delivery is generally 3 to 7 days, but some countries will take longer due to incoming customs delays. Tracking is available for all EMS deliveries.
DHL or Fedex Courier
We don't usually quote for DHL or Fedex Courier, as the cost is often significantly higher. If you specifically require this service, please make a note in the remarks. You can specify your own account if you prefer.
Air & Sea Freight
For larger orders shipped from Taiwan with a value greater than USD7000, we can offer FOB (Free on Board). If the order value is less, there will be an additional charge to cover documentation and internal freight cost.

There are some countries we cannot accept orders from, due to commercial restrictions. Instructions to use KVB30D
The power cable is located in the top lid of the exposure box, to release pull small brass knob.(Fig 1.1).
Turn off all switches on the front panel (Fig 1.2) & plug power cable into rear of the KVB30D. Ensure the voltage supply is correct and plug into electricity socket.
Adjust exposure time using Second Preset buttons. Typical exposure time is 60-90 seconds for photoplot and 70-120 seconds for artwork base when used with Kinsten PCB.
Unlock the vacuum clamp by pushing the metal latches outward with your thumbs, and lift clamp.
Remove protective film from presensitised PCB and align the artwork with the PCB. Alignment of double sided PCBs is made easier by using PCB offcuts to make a pouch with the artworks pre-aligned as shown in the image.
Artwork should be printed as a positive (black tracks) reversed image. Lay the printed side against the PCB, so the result will be correct.
Place the assembled Kinsten PCB and artwork inside the vacuum clamp, leaving a minimum 1cm distance from the air pipe.
Close and latch the vacuum clamp. Start the vacuum pump and wait for approximately 30 seconds until the air under vacuum clamp has been fully removed.
Close box and turn on UV light source, upper/lower or both as required. Display panel counts down seconds and at the end of exposure time, a buzzer will give a 2-3 seconds signal.
Turn off vacuum pump, open the box and wait a few seconds, then unlock the vacuum clamp and open it slowly. Remove and process the PCB.
Avoid UV exposure at a short distance for more than 5 seconds. If necessary, wear UV protective glasses.
Adjusting the Second Preset during exposure may interrupt the timer.
Unplug the power cable before replacing the fuse, 3 Amp for 100-120V, 2 Amp for 220-240V.
Do not use solvents on transparent plastic surface, use soft cloth with water/detergent or 50% water/alcohol.
Normal artificial room light will not harm Kinsten presensitised surface if exposed less than 5 minutes.
Breaks and flaws in artwork may be touched up with a black text pen.
Supply voltage (model dependant)
Kinsten products should only be used by qualified personel. Kinsten products are not suitable for use by children except with competent adult supervision taking full responsibility. Use common sense and ensure that all safety practices are adhered to when using Kinsten products. Kinsten take no responsibility for the misuse or incorrect use of any product. Check local regulations regarding use and disposal of any Kinsten product.

Definitions In this document the following words and phrases shall have the meanings as set below unless the context indicates otherwise: "Bank" refers to THE KARUR VYSYA BANK LIMITED, a Scheduled Commercial Bank, incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, 1913 having its Registered Office at Central Office, Erode Road, Karur, Tamil Nadu 639 002, (hereinafter referred to as "Bank" which expression shall unless the context otherwise requires be deemed to include its associates, subsidiaries, nominees, representatives, successors-in-interest and permitted assigns) The term "kvb@net" shall be a proprietary mark of the Bank which provides access through the internet to account information, account transaction, other products and services as advised by the bank from time to time to the bank's customers. "USER" refers to a registered Customer of the Bank and would need to be a current Internet user or have legal access to the Internet. Further, you must be a resident citizen of India, or otherwise permitted under Indian law to maintain a current account in India, in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act,1999, and the regulations framed hereunder. "kvb@net account" refers to the user's savings and/ or current account and/ or fixed deposit account and/or any other type of account so designated by the bank to be eligible account(s) for operations through the use of kvb@net. One of these accounts will be designated as primary account. All other accounts (if any) of the user will be called secondary account(s). The user should be either the account holder or sole signatory or authorized to act alone when there is more than one signatory. An account in the name of a minor or an account, in which a minor is a joint account holder, or a trust account or an escrow account, is not eligible to be a kvb@net account. Personal information refers to the information about the user obtained by the bank in connection with the kvb@net service or for any other services. Terms refer to terms and conditions for use of kvb@net as specified in this document. In this document, all references to the user/customer being referred in masculine gender will also include the feminine gender. The terms Internet Banking & kvb@net mean the same thing throughout the context of this document and could be used interchangeably.
Applicability of TERMS These TERMS form the contract between the USER and the BANK. By applying for kvb@net account and accessing the service the USER acknowledges and accepts these TERMS. These TERMS will be in addition to and not in derogation of the terms and conditions relating to any account of the customer.
Application for Internet Banking Services The Bank may offer kvb@net services to selected customers at its discretion and has the right to accept or reject such application as may be submitted by the users. The Customer acknowledges that he/she possesses knowledge of the Internet usage and will have legal access to the Internet. Customers willing to utilize the kvb@net services may approach the Branch of the Bank, where their account is maintained or willing to open their account, in person for registering themselves. Alternatively they can also download the application from the Website www. kvb. co. in. fill up and produce the same in person at the branch where the account is maintained. The acceptance of the registration and the acknowledgement thereof does not automatically imply the acceptance of application for Internet Banking Services by the Bank. The BANK will advise from time to time the Internet software such as Browsers, which are required for using kvb@net. There will be no obligation on the BANK to enable the access to the kvb@net services through any and all browsers, or any versions thereof.
Internet Banking The information provided to the user through the Internet Banking is not updated continuously but at regular intervals. Consequently, any information supplied to the user through Internet Banking will pertain to the date and time when it was last updated and not as the date and time when it is supplied to the user. The Bank shall not be liable for any loss that the user may suffer by relying on or acting on such information. The Bank may keep its records of the transactions in any form it wishes. In the event of any dispute, the Bank's records shall be binding as the conclusive evidence of the transactions carried out through Internet Banking in the absence of clear proof that the Bank's records are erroneous or incomplete. Any request for any service, which is offered as a part of Internet Banking, shall be binding on the user as and when the Bank receives such a request. If any request for a service is such that it cannot be given effect to unless it is followed up by requisite documentation on part of the user, the Bank shall not be required to act on the request until it receives such documentation from the user. In case of any request for a service relating to any foreign currency transaction made by the user, the exchange rates quoted by the Bank shall only be provisional and shall be subject to future variations in the exchange rate. The rate at which the transaction is given effect to would be the effective rate for all intents and purposes. The Customer shall also abide by the Regulations framed under the FEMA and such other guidelines prescribed by the Reserve Bank of India and other Governing Bodies. The USER understands that the BANK shall be bound by any circulars and directives issued by the Reserve Bank of India with regard to the maintenance and operation of deposit accounts from time to time. The USER acknowledges and undertakes to be equally bound to comply therewith. The USER also hereby absolves and holds blameless the BANK from any claim or damages in respect of any delay on the part of the BANK in carrying out any instructions given by the USER over the internet, where such delay is on account of technological failure, or other reasons beyond the control of the Bank. In cases of technological failure, the Bank shall endeavour to keep the downtime to the minimum.
Unauthorised Access The user shall take all necessary precautions to prevent unauthorized and illegal use of kvb@net and unauthorized access to the Accounts provided by Internet Banking. The Bank shall take all commercially reasonable care to, ensure the security of and to prevent unauthorised access to the Internet Banking using commercially reasonable technology available in India to the Bank. The USER shall also be responsible for maintenance of the secrecy of the personal details of the ACCOUNTS at all times. If the USER fails to keep secret such personal details of the ACCOUNT, then, the BANK shall stand absolved of all obligations under this AGREEMENT. The user shall ensure that kvb@net service or any related service is not used for any purpose which is illegal, improper or which is not authorised under these Terms. If any USER has any reason to believe that there is any unauthorized access of his or her ACCOUNT, the USER shall forthwith intimate the BANK. The USER understands and recognizes that in matters of unauthorized access, time is of the essence, for speedy detection and prevention. Therefore, any failure on the part of the USER to speedily notify the BANK, shall absolve the BANK of any further responsibility with respect to such unauthorized access.
Internet Banking Access The user would be allotted an Internet Banking user-id and a set of secret passwords by the Bank in the first instance. The user will be required to change the password assigned by the Bank on accessing Internet Banking for the first time. As a safety measure, the user shall change the password as frequently thereafter as possible. In addition to user-id and password the Bank may, at its discretion, advice the user to adopt such other means of authentication including but not limited to crypto-key systems, digital certification and/ or smart cards. The user shall not attempt or permit others to attempt accessing the Account information stored in the computers of the Bank through any means other than as envisaged herein.
Internet Banking Password The user acknowledges, represents and warrants that the password which will be issued, provides access to the Account and that user is the sole and exclusive owner and is the only authorised user of the password and accepts sole responsibility for use, confidentiality and protection of the password, as well as for all orders and information changes (i. e. change of address) entered into Accounts using such password. The user grants express authority to the Bank for carrying out transactions and instructions authenticated by such password. The user unconditionally undertakes to have Internet Banking password of such number of letters/digits as may be notified by the Bank from time to time and ensure that the same is kept confidential; and to not let any unauthorised person have access to the internet while the user is accessing the Internet Banking. If the user forgets the Internet Banking password, the user may request for the issue of a new password by sending a written request to the Bank and this shall not be construed as the commencement of a new contract. The Bank shall have no obligation to verify the authenticity of any transaction / instruction received or purported to have been received from the user through Internet Banking or purporting to have been sent by the user other than by means of verification of the Internet Banking user-Id and the password. The user agrees and acknowledges that the Bank shall in no way be held responsible or liable if the user incurs any loss as a result of information being disclosed by the Bank regarding his Account(s) or carrying the instruction of the user pursuant to the access of the Internet Banking and the user shall fully indemnify and hold harmless the Bank and the affiliates in respect of the same. The user shall maintain the secrecy of all information of confidential nature and shall ensure that the same is not disclosed to any person voluntarily, accidentally or by mistake. The USER shall comply with such guidelines, instructions or terms as the Bank may prescribe from time to time with respect to the password.
Joint Accounts In case of Joint Accounts, transactions through kvb@net accounts, shall be available if the mode of operation is indicated as "either or survivor" or "anyone or survivor". The user desirous of using the kvb@net account should be either the account holder and sole signatory or authorized to act independently in case of a joint account. For such joint account, one user-ID and password will be issued to each of the joint account holders when requested. The other joint account holders shall expressly agree with the arrangement and give their consent on the application form for use of the kvb@net account. In case of joint accounts operated by more than one user, the Bank shall act on the instruction received first and any subsequent instruction shall be neglected. All correspondence will be addressed to the first named person only. All transactions arising from the use of the kvb@net services in the joint account shall be binding on all the joint account holders, jointly and severally.
Service Charges The Bank reserves the right to charge and recover from the user service charges for providing the kvb@net services. The user hereby authorizes the Bank to recover the service charges by debiting one of the kvb@net accounts of the user or by sending a bill to the user who will be liable to make the payment within the specified period. Failure to do so shall result in recovery of the service charges by the Bank in a manner as the Bank may deem fit along with such interest, if any, and/or suspension of the facility of kvb@net services without any liability to the Bank.
Minimum Balance and Charges The USER shall maintain, at all times such minimum balance in kvb@net account(s) as the BANK may stipulate from time to time. The Bank may, at its discretion, levy penal charges for non-maintenance of the minimum balance. In addition to the minimum balance stipulation the Bank may levy service charges for use of kvb@net, which will be advised to the USER at the time of opening the account, and also be published on the Web site of the BANK. Any further change in the fees shall be notified on the BANK's Web site 15 days in advance of the changes taking effect. The USER authorises the BANK to recover all charges related to kvb@net as determined by the BANK from time to time by debiting one of the USER's kvb@net accounts. However at present there are no charges levied. The BANK may withdraw the kvb@net facility, if at any time the amount of deposit falls short of the required minimum as aforesaid and/or if the service charges remain unpaid, without giving any further notice to the USER and/or without incurring any liability or responsibility whatsoever by reason of such withdrawal. The BANK shall not be obligated to intimate the withdrawal of such facility over the internet.
Lien or Set Off The BANK shall have the right to set-off and lien, irrespective of any other lien or charge, present as well as future, without any prior notice, on the deposits held in the USER's Primary Account and/or Secondary Account(s) or in any other account, whether in single name or joint name(s), to the extent of all outstanding dues, whatsoever, arising as a result of the USER accessing kvb@net service. The Bank shall not be obligated to intimate the USER prior to any such exercise of lien.
Funds Transfer Through Internet Banking The User accepts that he will be responsible for keying in the correct account number for the fund transfer request. In no case, the Bank will be held liable for any erroneous transactions incurred arising out of or relating to the customer entering wrong account numbers. The User shall not attempt to transfer funds without sufficient funds in the related Account or without a pre-existing arrangement with the Bank for the grant of an overdraft. The Bank may, at its sole discretion, decide to carry out the instructions notwithstanding inadequacy of funds (or credit facilities). The Bank may, at its sole and absolute discretion, do the aforesaid without prior approval from or notice to the User and the User shall be responsible to repay with interest the resulting overdraft, advance or credit thereby created and all related charges arising thereby and interest on the excess amount, at such rates as the Bank may in its sole discretion levy. In case of insufficient funds, Bank is not responsible for non-execution /non-payment/breakage of fixed deposit accounts of the Accounts linked to the subject Account or of any consequences thereof. The User shall abide by the FEMA rules and procedures prescribed by the Bank, failing which the Bank, in its sole discretion shall be entitled to refuse transaction/reverse entry and recover such costs or claims as it may incur. The Bank shall not be liable for any omission to make all or any of the payments or for late payments due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control. If the funds transfer is made available to the User, it may be used for transfer of funds from the subject Account to other accounts belonging to third parties maintained at the Bank and/or at any other Bank which falls under the network of the Reserve Bank of India's Electronic Funds Transfer System. The USER shall abide by such instructions as the BANK may issue from time to time with regard to issuance of "Stop Transfer" instructions. The USER recognizes that transfers of funds by use of the kvb@net account is usually instantaneous, and therefore, the BANK undertakes no obligation whatsoever to give effect to any "Stop Transfer" instructions, and shall receive such instructions only on a reasonable - efforts basis.
Disclosure of the PERSONAL INFORMATION The USER agrees that the BANK or its contractors may hold and process his PERSONAL INFORMATION on computer or otherwise in connection with kvb@net services as well as for statistical analysis and credit scoring. The USER also agrees that the BANK may disclose, in strict confidence, to other institutions, such "PERSONAL INFORMATION" as may be reasonably necessary for reasons inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:
For participation in any telecommunication or electronic clearing network>
In compliance with a legal directive
For credit rating by recognised credit scoring agencies
For fraud prevention purposes The USER shall also be liable, upon request by the BANK in this regard to present himself or herself in person before the concerned branch of the BANK, when any personal verification is found necessary by the Bank.
Liability of the USER and the Bank Neither the Bank nor the Affiliates shall be liable for any unauthorised transactions occurring through the kvb@net and the user hereby fully indemnifies and holds the Bank and the Affiliates harmless against any action, suit, proceeding initiated against it or any loss, cost or damage incurred by it as a result thereof. The Bank shall under no circumstance be held liable to the USER if the kvb@net is not available in the desired manner for reasons including but not limited to natural calamities, legal restraints, faults in the telecommunication network or network failure, or any other reason beyond the control of the Bank. Under no circumstances shall the Bank be liable for any damages whatsoever whether such damages are direct, indirect, incidental, consequential and irrespective of whether any claim is based on loss of revenue, interruption of business or any loss of any character or nature whatsoever and whether sustained by the USER or by any other person. The Bank's aggregate liability for claims relating to the kvb@net services, whether for breach in contract or in tort (including but not limited to negligence) shall be limited to the transaction charges/fees or consideration paid by the user during the previous twelve months for kvb@net services, excluding any amount paid towards the transactions. Illegal or improper use of the Internet Banking shall render the user liable for payment of financial charges as decided by the Bank or will result in suspension of the operations through the kvb@net - Internet Banking.
Indemnification The USER hereby agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified, the Bank, its directors, its officers, its employees and agents from all loss, liability, claims, demands, judgments and expenses arising out of or in any way connected with the usage of the Site or as a consequence of the Bank's execution of the User's instructions or by reason of providing the kvb@net services for any act or omission by the Bank on the instruction of the User. This indemnification is provided without regard to whether Bank's claim for indemnification is due to the use of the Site or any permitted services by you or your authorized representative or anyone else whatsoever. The User further agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified the Bank in respect of any claim, suit, action or proceeding brought against the Bank by a third party to the extent that such claims, suit, action or proceeding is based on or arises in connection with (i) violation of the Terms contained herein; (ii) unauthorized user of the kvb@net services; (iii) any misrepresentation or breach of representation or warranty made by the user; or (iv) breach of any covenant or obligation of the user.
Change of Terms and Conditions The Bank has the absolute discretion to amend or supplement any of the terms at any time without notice. Changed terms and conditions shall be effective immediately on being uplinked and the USER agrees and shall be deemed to have accepted the changed terms and conditions.
Non Transferability The grant of facility of kvb@net to a USER is not transferable under any circumstances and shall be used only by that USER.
Termination of kvb@net Service The User may request for termination of the kvb@net facility any time by giving a written notice of at least 15 days to the Bank. The User shall remain responsible for any transactions made on his kvb@net account(s) through kvb@net prior to the time of such cancellation of the Service. The BANK may withdraw the kvb@net facility anytime provided the USER is given reasonable notice under the circumstances. If the kvb@net service is withdrawn by the BANK for a reason other than the breach of the terms and conditions by the USER, the Bank's liability shall be restricted to the return of the annual charges, if any, recovered from the USER for the period in question. The closure of all kvb@net accounts of the USER will automatically terminate the kvb@net service. The Bank may suspend or terminate kvb@net facilities without prior notice if the USER has breached these terms and conditions or the Bank learns of the death, bankruptcy or lack of legal capacity of the USER.
Notices Notices under these Terms and Conditions may be given by the BANK and the USER, electronically to the mail box of either party. Such notices will be regarded as being in writing, delivering them by hand or by sending them by post to the last address given by the USER and in the case of the BANK to the address mentioned below: The Karur Vysya Bank Ltd, Planning & Development Dept, Central Office, Erode Road, Karur - 639 002 In addition, the BANK may also publish notices of general nature, which are applicable to all USERS of kvb@net on its web site. Proprietary Rights The Bank shall make reasonable efforts to advise from time to time the Internet software such as browsers which are required for availing of the kvb@net services. There will be no obligations on the Bank to support all or any versions of the internet software as may be required for offering the kvb@net services. The user acknowledges that the software underlying the kvb@net services as well as other internet related software which are required for accessing the services are the legal properties of the respective vendors. The permission given by the bank to access the kvb@net services will not convey any proprietary or ownership rights in such software. The User shall not attempt to modify, translate, disassemble, de compile or reverse engineer the software underlying the kvb@net services or create any derivative product based on the software.
Jurisdiction and legal rights All Accounts shall be governed and be subject to laws of India and guidelines as may be issued by Reserve Bank of India from time to time. The Courts of the city in which the branch of the Bank in which the Account is/was opened shall have the exclusive jurisdiction and the User and the Bank unconditionally submit to jurisdiction of those courts. Notwithstanding the above this shall be without prejudice to the Bank also having the right to bring /file a claim in any other court or judicial forum at any other jurisdiction in India or outside India and the User hereby consents to that jurisdiction. The position or decision as that the Bank may take on anything related to the Account shall also be final and cannot be disputed by the Customer under any circumstances. Any provision of the Terms for kvb@net services which is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction shall, as to such jurisdiction, be ineffective to the extent of prohibition or unenforceability but shall not invalidate the remaining provisions of the Terms or affect such provision in any other jurisdiction.
TDS Tax will be deducted at source, if the Customer's interest income in any financial year exceeds threshold amount prescribed. Interest income will be a summation of interest earned and accrued on all fixed deposits in the Customer's name as the primary Account holder. Bank at its discretion shall be entitled to deduct Tax at source on interest payable to the Customer on accrual basis or on the basis of actual payment and interchange the same. The rate at which the tax will be deducted will be as per applicable/governing laws. In the event if the Customer requires that no tax is required to be deducted on the interest payable by the Bank to him, Customer shall submit such Form as is prescribed by the Income Tax authorities or Income Tax Rules. If the Customer does not submit the prescribed Form for any one of the Fixed Deposit, the Bank shall be entitled to deduct tax on interest on all the fixed deposits.

The Bank may sub-contract and employ agents to carry out any of its obligations under this contract. kvb@net service may be available to the users in certain cities only and during timings specified by the Bank from time to time and transactions would be carried out on the same day or on the next working day depending upon the time of logging of the transaction. KVB revises FCNR, NRE rates
CHENNAI. Karur Vysya Bank has revised the FCNR rates for dollar deposits upwards. For 1-2 years, the bank offers 3.81 per cent against 3.48 per cent earlier and for 2-3 years to 4.13 per cent (3.71 per cent). For a three year deposit, the rate has been raised to 4.23 per cent from 3.90 per cent. On NRE deposits, the bank has increased the rate for one year to below two years to 4.60 per cent from 4.20 per cent, for two years to below three years 4.90 per cent from 4.50 per cent and for deposits of three years and above to 5 per cent from 4.70 per cent.

KVB Implements Online Remittance Solution
Karur Vysya Bank (KVB), a private sector bank in India, announced its implementation of an online remittance solution to help NRI customers. For this, the bank tied up with digital payments service provider TimesofMoney. The new deployment ensures that KVB customers get a robust, cost-effective and secured transaction platform for money transfers.
“With our NRI customer base growing at a rapid pace, we realised the need to have in place a robust online transfer arrangement. Therefore by tying up with TimesofMoney, we can not only deliver our NRO customers a faster and effective service, but can also cover more countries to add to our NRI portfolio,” said V. Bhaskar, General Manager, International Banking Group, Karur Vysya Bank.
He added that non-customers can also remit funds in a fast, secure and hassle-free environment. Bhaskar said the bank is particularly looking to expand into the European market with this solution as it found TimesofMoney’s money transfer solution offering a number of benefits, especially in terms of the lower transfer fee and better exchange rates.
As per a World Bank Report, India is one of the top remittance receiver in the world, with a robust US$ 64 billion in 2011, an increase of 16 percent over last year. The market for online remittance service in India is growing at 20 percent CAGR.
Reportedly, KVB has been recognised as one of the most innovative banks in terms of deploying innovative IT solutions for business benefits. KVB has initiated several customer friendly services by harnessing technology for banking operations. It is also one of the earliest banks in the country to achieve full networking of its branches under Core Banking Solutions, offering innovative services through multiple delivery channels.

KVB revises FCNR, NRE deposit rates
CHENNAI: Karur Vysya Bank has revised the FCNR dollar rates upwards. For 1-2 year deposits, the bank offers 4.05 per cent against 3.71 per cent. For 2-3 years, the interest rate has been fixed at 4.18 per cent (3.81 per cent) and for 3-4 years 4.24 per cent (3.83 per cent). The interest rate on deposits for 4-5 years has been fixed at 4.29 per cent. For exact five year deposit, the bank is offering interest rate of 4.31 per cent. On NRE deposits, the bank has increased the interest rate for one year and below two years at 4,80 per cent (4.50 per cent), for two years and below three years 4.90 per cent (4.60 per cent) and for above three years 5 per cent against 4.60 per cent, according to a bank release.

i like to travel a lot overseas when i can afford it and i always run into one problem before i go. Where should i exchange my australian dollars to the currency of where i am going. I have come to a way i like to do it and i thought i would share it here in case anyone else ever needs to exchange their money ( in Sydney ).
One of the main reason i am posting this is because time after time i walk past places in the city that do exchanges and the rates they do are absolutely terrible. they keep putting up signs saying stuff like “We can’t be beaten”. “Best exchange rate guaranteed” etc. but the simple fact is they are terrible and you should NEVER go to them as you can always save your money and into the hundreds when you go somewhere else. i have seen them put over a 0.10 difference on the real exchange rate, which may not seem like much but when your doing into the 1000’s you are losing some serious money. enough of my rant.
So if your ever in sydney and you need some currency exchanged rather quickly i highly suggest going to a place at 2 Park street ( across the road from the Town Hall ) which is the Citi Group tower. The Place is called KVB Kunlum on level 18. They do all the major currencies and will often be at or below a 0.02 cent different to the real exchange rate.
Now this other method i sometimes use to exchange money i use for when i travel to Canada as i do a fair bit. But you require a canadian bank account and it can take a few days.
Head over to xe. com and setup an account, which you can get setup and running in just a few days. You can call them to try get it done faster. And once all setup you can do a transfer from australia to your canadian bank account often at a 0.01 cent or below difference to the real exchange rate at the time. They are super quick at doing it all and helping you out and i highly recommend them as i have been using them for a few years now and done well over $10,000 in aus to can exchanges and back again.
If all else fails usually the best place to exchange money is actually in the place where you are going and not doing it before you leave as they can tend to give you a better rate when selling their own currency.
One other thing i have been recommended to try is a GE Money credit card. which is a prepaid one you load up before you go, and it does seem very good. But i am yet to try it out and test exchange rate the give me.

Gold dropped to its weakest in a month on Monday, pressured by a firmer dollar following hawkish comments from US Federal Reserve officials that suggested at least two interest rate hikes this year, with the first potentially coming next month.
Spot gold was down 0.5 per cent at $1,209.85 an ounce by 0237 GMT (6.37am UAE time). It touched a session-low of $1,208.90, its cheapest since February 23. The metal lost 3 per cent last week.
The dollar was trading at a 1-1/2-week high versus a basket of currencies, extending last week's gains as expectations for an April US rate hike strengthened.
US gold for April delivery slipped 0.9 per cent to $1,210.40 an ounce.
The Fed’s comments marked further losses for bullion which fell the most since November last week as the dollar gained traction on prospects of higher US interest rates in the near term.
St. Louis Fed President James Bullard was the latest to add his voice to policymakers supporting a rate hike, possibly as soon as in the next policy meeting in April.
But Bullard also said he was undecided on whether to push for an April rate increase in part because the US central bank will have seen little more economic data in the interim.
“While we have stated that Fed tightening may not be as negative for gold as in previous tightening cycles, an April rate rise would likely knock gold lower near term,” HSBC analyst James Steel wrote in a report.
Steel, however, said gold’s retreat may be temporary if the Fed only lifts interest rates twice this year which “should allow the market to hold above $1,200 support”.
Trading was likely to remain slow on Monday with other markets, including London, still shut for Easter holidays.
Inflows into gold exchange-traded funds (ETF) continued, however, suggesting confidence in bullion remained.
SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed ETF, said its holdings rose to 26.48 million ounces on Thursday, the highest since December 2013.
Russia and Kazakhstan extended their gold buying spree in February by adding to their bullion reserves, while Malaysia and Turkey cut their bullion holdings, data from the International Monetary Fund showed on Friday.

Gold's safe-haven appeal swells slightly after Brussels attacks
Spot gold edged lower on Wednesday, with the impact of a stronger dollar outweighing a slight swell in the metal's safe-haven appeal after attacks on an airport and a rush-hour metro train in Brussels.
Spot gold slipped 1 per cent to $1,235.90 an ounce by 10.29am UAE time, with trade expected to wind down ahead of the Easter holidays which start on Friday.
Prices have been trading in a narrowing band of $1,240-$1,270 for the past week.
US gold also slipped to $1,238.05.
Overnight news of attacks in Brussels, and hawkish comments from another US Federal Reserve official have underpinned the US currency, while a rising US rate path has dampened gold's investment appeal.
"Particularly in the US, this slow normalisation of the economy should result in a grind higher in real interest rates and cap the attractiveness of precious metals as an investment," BMI Research said in a note.
Higher interest rates increase holding costs of gold, which is a non-interest bearing asset.
